What kind of friend

(Rachel Walker)
January 3, 2000

This song was inspired by the horrible abuse experienced through bad relationships. From observing and experiencing the victimizing behaviors of an abuser. And the silent cries for help of  friendship.

Sitting here drinking coffee at the cafe close to home

Looking round about meas the world keeps go'in on

Thinking about my friend who lives in her own home

Whatever happened to love?

She's sure she did something oh so wrong

To make him oh so mad

I watched her change since she'd been with him

So tense, on edge

She said she had a lot of hope, said he promised

He would change

But she couldn't hide the bruises

Or the broken sadness in her eyes

What kind of friend would I be to turn the other way

Not let her share her grief,

Help her along the way

Take the time to check on her

See if she's OK

What kind of friend

Couldn't stop thinking about her and her sad situation

Picked up the phone and talked to her man

I said leave her alone, get help and leave her alone

What kind of friend would I be to turn the other way

Not let her share her grief,

Help her along the way

Take the time to check on her

See if she's OK

What kind of friend?
